Ghanaian singer, King Paluta, has formally petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Board over the snub of his hit song, “Makoma”, from the 2025 Awards nominations.

In a petition signed by his management, King Paluta expressed his disappointment and surprise at the omission of “Makoma” from the categories he submitted it for, including Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.

According to the petition, “This concern has become necessary after the team realized none of the categories we submitted the said material for was considered after the official nominees announcement.”

King Paluta’s management team emphasized their trust in the competence of the TGMA Board, stating, “We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts and general public on this unpopular decision of the board.”

The team also expressed their confidence in the song’s merit, saying, “We are confident that ‘Makoma’ breaches no moral or ethical requirement of the board and will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted earlier.”

The petition seeks an explanation from the TGMA Board for the snub and a possible reconsideration of “Makoma” for the nominated categories.
