Ghana’s Civil Service Council, led by Chairman Dr Lawrence Kannea, has paid a familiarization visit to the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI) on Tuesday, April, 21st 2026, to strengthen collaboration and discuss ways to enhance public service delivery as part of the government agenda to resetting the country.
The Deputy Minister for Trade Agribusines and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, who received the delegation on behalf of the Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, emphasized the shared responsibility between government and the Civil Service in driving national development.
He called for fairness and professionalism within the Service, stressing that the Trade Ministry remains a strategic institution that plays a critical role in attracting investment and the overall development of the country.
Hon. Ahi also underscored the need to transform Ghana’s industrial landscape by boosting exports and creating sustainable employment opportunities and urged the Civil Service Council to provide the necessary support to enable staff of the Service to deliver effectively and efficiently.
He again Commeded the Management and staff of the Ministry for their efforts in complementing the political class to deliver on their mandate.
Discribing the Ministerial visit by the Council as innovative, Mr. Noah Tumfo, Chief Director of the Ministry briefed the Council on its operations, revealing that the Ministry has a staff strength of over 350 and has presence in nine key missions abroad.
He further highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to policy development, particularly noting the final stage of the Agribusiness Policy aimed at strengthening the sector.
The Chairman for the Civil Service Council, Dr. Lawrence Kannea, for his part, expressed appreciation to the Chief Director, Mr. Noah Tumfo, for his exemplary leadership and dedication to duty, while commending staff for the good work so far.
He reiterated the importance of the Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Ministry as a key driver of the country’s economic growth, noting that ongoing reforms and restructuring require a collective efforts from all stakeholders to yield meaningful results.
Dr Evans Aggrey – Darkoh, Head of the Civil Service, stated that ” We want to change the Guggisberg economy and industrialized to create wealth and employment”.
“We are also here to as part of the visit to ensure that Public Bureaucracy delivers and the nation develop” he emphasized.
