There has been fire outbreak at Odawna market close to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, Ghana amid heavy rains and severe flooding across the city.
The fire which raged for about an hour destroyed several structures amid the rains, making emergency response to the area difficult.
The fire started on Monday morning, June 29, 2026.
Several parts of Accra have been submerged due to the floods caused by heavy downpours.
The rains began late on Sunday, June 28 and still continuing.
Several roads were submerged, causing severe traffic blocks across the city.
Suburbs of Accra affected by the flooding include the N1 Highway, Apenkwa towards Tesano, the Accra–Kasoa Highway, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Atomic Junction in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, sections of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange and several surrounding communities.
