Canadian Court Jails Man for Life for Killing 2 Nigerian Security Guards

A court in Canada has sentenced a 31-year-old man named Kensworth Alton Francis to life imprisonment, for killing two Nigerian men namely Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe and Chibueze Momah.

Francis shot dead Amos-Arowoshegbe, age 25 and Momah, 22, at a Vaughan nightclub in Ontario, north of Toronto, where they both worked as security guards.

The deadly shooting incident happened at the ATL Lounge in the area of Highway 7 and Keele Street on July 23, 2022, at about 3:30 a.m.

According to Canadian prosecutors, a fight broke out inside the lounge before the shooting.

A 20-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting and suffered serious injuries but survived.

Following the shooting, members of the York Regional Police homicide unit, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police started an investigation and issued a Canada-wide warrant for Francis.

Nearly two years later on March 24, 2024, Francis was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Hartford, Conn., and later extradited to York Region to stand trial.

A jury found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of unlawfully causing bodily harm.

Francis was sentenced at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Friday, June 19, 2026.

He received two life sentences for the murder convictions, with no eligibility for parole for 25 years.

He also received an additional eight-year sentence for unlawfully causing bodily harm.

The sentences are run concurrently.
