The king of the Asante Kingdom in Ghana, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid a historic royal visit to the Ga Kingdom in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
Otumfuo’s visit has been hailed by many including Ghana’s Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, as symbolizing unity between the Ga and Asante Kingdoms.
A special durbar was held in honor of Otumfuo at the Ga Mantse (Ga King), Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s palace in Accra on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The event saw the public display of the two powerful kingdoms’ rich cultural heritage, including their music and traditional costumes.
Otumfuo’s visit to Accra is in reciprocation of the Ga Mantse’s recent visit to Kumasi to grace his (Otumfuo’s) 25th anniversary celebration to the Asante throne as well as his 74th birthday.
