President Ouattara was declared the winner of Ivory Coast’s presidential election, paving the way for him to serve a fourth term in office in the world’s biggest cocoa-producing nation.

Results from the country’s October 25, 2025, presidential election showed that the 83-year-old Ouattara emerged victorious. The Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Monday, October 27, 2025, stating that he won the race with 89.77 percent of the votes cast. About 8.7 million Ivorians, according to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), turned out to vote on October 25.

The election excluded Ouattara’s top rivals, namely former President Laurent Gbagbo and ex-Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam. Gbagbo was disqualified over a criminal conviction, while Thiam was barred for acquiring French citizenship.

Challenging Ouattara were four other candidates, including former First Lady Simone Gbagbo and ex-Commerce Minister Jean-Louis Billon.
