Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have held what has been described as “constructive discussions” in Kano.
Saifullahi Hassan, the media aide to Kwankwaso, announced in a social media post on Friday that the meeting between Obasanjo and Kwankwaso took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026 during the former President’s visit to Kano.
Hassan says Kwankwaso was accompanied by Aminu Gwarzo, former deputy governor of Kano and the NDC’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He wrote on social media that “His Excellency, Sen. @KwankwasoRM, PhD, FNSE, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, last night paid a courtesy visit to elder statesman and former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, at his temporary residence in Kano.”
Hassan added that “Former President Obasanjo is currently in Kano on an official assignment, and the visit provided an opportunity for warm exchanges and constructive discussions.”
Obasanjo is an ally of Peter Obi, the NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
