US President, Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, have agreed that “Iran can never have a nuclear weapon”, the White House said in a statement.
In the statement issued on Thursday, May 14, 2026 on the outcomes of the President Jinping and Trump’s bilateral meeting held in Beijing, China, the White House disclosed that “President Xi also made clear China’s opposition to the militarization of the Strait and any effort to charge a toll for its use.”
According to the statement, the Chinese President “expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce China’s dependence on the Strait in the future.”
It says Presidents Trump and Jinping discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between China and the United States, “including expanding market access for American businesses into China and increasing Chinese investment info our industries.”
