The President of Botswana, Duma Gideon Boko, has paid his final respects to former President Festus Mogae whose body is lying in state at the National Assembly of Botswana in Gaborone.
According to Boko, “His [Mogae] stewardship strengthened Botswana’s standing, safeguarded the stability of our democracy, and upheld the values of responsible leadership, discipline, and national unity. He understood the weight of public office and carried it with humility, dignity, and honour”.
He says “As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life of extraordinary service and enduring contribution. His legacy remains firmly woven into the foundation and progress of our nation, and future generations will remember him as one of the great custodians of the Botswana Republic”.
