A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics indicates strong public backing for several proposals outlined in the Constitutional Review Commission’s report, including extending the presidential term from four to five years.
The poll, released on Monday, December 29, found that 57 percent of respondents support the extension, while 36 percent oppose it. The remaining seven percent said they were undecided.
The survey also revealed broad approval for prohibiting members of parliament from simultaneously holding ministerial positions. On this recommendation, 58 percent of voters expressed support, compared with 32 percent who opposed it, while 10 percent had no opinion.
Additionally, the poll found majority support for lowering the minimum age required to run for president, with 55 percent of respondents in favour, 35 percent opposed, and 10 percent undecided.
Global InfoAnalytics conducted the survey from December 1 to December 21, 2025, using a combination of web-based questionnaires, telephone interviews, and in-person interviews. A total of 13,495 registered voters from across the country participated in the study, providing a representative snapshot of public sentiment on key constitutional reforms.
The findings suggest that voters are largely in favour of reforms aimed at restructuring political office eligibility and enhancing governance frameworks ahead of potential future elections.
