US President, Donald Trump, was honored with the FIFA Peace Prize during the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington DC on Friday evening, December 5, 2025.
The President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, the FIFA presented the award to President Trump at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Mr. Infantino said President Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”.
As President Trump went on stage to accept the prestigious award, Mr. Infantino says “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” adding that “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”
The US President was given a trophy, medal and certificate.
According to FIFA, the Peace Prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.
In his brief remark to accept the award, Trump said the FIFA Peace Prize is “one of the great honours of my life”.
He went on to say he has “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. India and Pakistan, so many different wars we were able to end, in some cases just before they started.”
