Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice dedicated his goal and performance to his late aunt after helping the Gunners secure a 2–0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Goals from Viktor Gyökeres in the 14th minute and Rice in the 35th sealed the win for Mikel Arteta’s side, who remain top of the Premier League table with 25 points from ten matches — eight wins, one draw, and one defeat.
Speaking after the match, Rice revealed that his emotional goal celebration carried a deeply personal meaning.
“My auntie passed away before the Fulham game… I 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 her to death,” Rice said. “She travelled everywhere to watch me with my mum. I know she’s watching down so that was for her today… my celebration was special, for my auntie.”
The England international produced another commanding midfield display. He has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side since joining the Emirates’ club from West Ham.
With the victory, Arsenal continue their impressive start to the 2025/26 Premier League season, maintaining their push for a first league title since 2004. Arsenal ended their historic 2003/2004 season with 90 points. They did not lose a singer match during that season which had the likes of Thiery Henry playing for them.
