Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has matched a career-best record set by Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring in 12 consecutive games for club and country. This latest milestone was achieved during City’s Champions League win over Villarreal on Wednesday.
The Record-Equalling Goal
Haaland’s goal came in City’s Champions League victory, where he converted Rico Lewis’s low cross to open the scoring, taking his tally to an astonishing 24 goals in the 2025/26 campaign. Bernardo Silva later sealed the win with the second goal before halftime.
The strike marks Haaland’s ninth straight scoring appearance for Manchester City. He is now just one game shy of matching his own personal record for consecutive club goals, which he set under Pep Guardiola between August and October 2022.
A Blistering Start to the Season
At just 25 years old, Haaland is proving to be a force of nature. Since failing to score in a defeat to Tottenham earlier this season, he has embarked on a relentless run, bagging 22 goals across his next 12 matches.
His scoring streak includes:
- Goals in City’s opening Premier League fixture, a 4–0 win over Wolves.
- Six goals for Norway during September’s international fixtures for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
- A brace against Manchester United, breaking Wayne Rooney’s Manchester derby record.
- A continued rampage against Arsenal, further cementing his status as one of the most lethal forwards in world football.
Haaland’s dominance places him firmly at the forefront of the race for the Champions League top scorer this season, already challenging the records of football’s greatest marksmen.
