Skyewise Group, a Nigerian company, has publicly clarified that the property recently demolished along the Lekki Expressway in Lagos belongs entirely to the firm and not to the popular auto influencer Ola of Lagos.
The statement was issued following widespread social media reports that mistakenly claimed the car lot, demolished last Saturday, was owned by the influencer, who is known for showcasing luxury vehicles online.
Government Project Cited as Reason
In a statement made available to Punch Online on Monday, Elvis Abuyere, CEO of Skyewise Group, described the demolition as “unfortunate and saddening.” He confirmed that the action was part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to create access routes for a new waterway development project.
“This unfortunate incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located,” Abuyere said.
He stressed that the demolished property was fully owned by Skyewise Group, with only a section leased to Ola of Lagos for car hire operations and the display of luxury vehicles used in content creation.
Plans to Rebuild
Abuyere expressed deep sadness over the loss but announced that the company has already begun plans to rebuild and establish a new, improved facility in Lagos.
He reassured stakeholders that all necessary legalities for the previous property were in order: “All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licenses, and environmental levies for the property were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government,” adding that copies of these documents would be released soon.
The CEO concluded by thanking Nigerians for their support during the setback and expressed confidence that Skyewise Group would “emerge stronger and better in no distant future.”
