A former nun turned influencer, Lais Dognini, has secretly married a Catholic priest, Jackson Dognini.
The couple met when Jackson offered to pray for Lais to help her deal with depression, according to a report by Brazilian media outlet, O Globo.
They then married in secret in March and revealed their union in an Instagram story on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
The report said Lais and Jackson had dedicated several years to the Catholic Church before meeting over six years ago when Lais was still a missionary.
According to O Globo, although they shared the same missionary spaces, they had never said so much as “hello” to each other.
The report added that Jackson spent five years in the seminary training for the priesthood while Lais lived in the Carmelite convent for two years, dedicating her life to prayer and service.
According to the report, Lais suffered depression and left the convent, returning to her home to focus on her recovery. Jackson, who remained in the seminary, sent her a message saying he was praying for her.
He believed she would one day return to religious life, they kept exchanging messages and eventually became friends.
The report added that Jackson decided to leave the seminary after a long period of reflection about his vocation and in April 2024, he and Lais started dating, becoming engaged in October last year before marrying in March this year.
“It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it, we’re adults now and we know what we want in life”, Lais wrote on Instagram as she shared the news of their marriage for the first time on October 7, 2025.
