EU Ambassador Pledges to Boost European Investment in Ghana

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, has reaffirmed his commitment to making Ghana a prime destination for European investment during his tenure.

He said his focus will be on strengthening EU-Ghana economic ties through support for infrastructure development, advancing sustainability initiatives, and contributing to the country’s overall economic stability.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Mr. Skinnebach explained that the EU’s partnership with Ghana now extends beyond shared values to advancing common economic interests.

“Europe used to be a corporate partner promoting its values and principles. Now, this has extended to interests also. Fortunately, many of these interests coincide with Ghana’s interests as well. What I want to do in my four years here is to make Ghana more attractive for investment for Europeans,” he stated.

The Ambassador added that the EU is mobilizing financing from private investors, development institutions, and international financial organizations to channel into Ghana’s economy.

“From direct investments for the private sector, development institutions and also for international financial institutions to bring their money to Ghana and to help develop the infrastructure, to help develop sustainability, and to help push economic stabilisation,” he emphasized.
