Ghanaian rapper, Desmond Blackmore, popularly known as D-Black, has been accused of pocketing Ghc 80,000 from Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA).
Investigative news outlet, The Fourth Estate, made the allegation in its latest exposé, drawing the award-winning rapper into public controversy.
The Fourth Estate claimed that D-Black received GH₵80,000 as support for his Tropical Fiesta event.
The money, the report said, was disbursed through the National Lottery Authority’s (NLA) Good Causes Foundation, headed by Sammi Awuku.
The claims have sparked widespread debate online, with critics questioning the use of public funds meant for social impact projects. Others argue that festivals like Tropical Fiesta help boost Ghana’s creative arts sector and tourism industry, which also count as “good causes.”
As of now, D-Black has not issued an official response, and the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation has also remained silent on the allegations.
The exposé has reignited a broader conversation about transparency, accountability, and the allocation of state-backed funding within Ghana’s creative and entertainment space.
