Botswana has received at least 91 tonnes of medical supplies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to Botswana’s Ministry of Health on Monday, the medicines arrived on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
The Minister described the medical donation as timely support.
The medicines arrived as Botswana confronts worsening public health emergency. The country’s national medical supply chain has collapsed.
The South African nation’s President, Duma Boko, declared in August this year a public health emergency after disruptions at the country’s Central Medical Stores left health facilities unable to meet basic patient needs.
President Boko had blamed the breakdown to inflated procurement costs and systemic inefficiencies that have led to waste and damage across the supply system.
