Former President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has paid glowing tribute to the late Ghanaian industrialist and spiritual leader, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing him as an “industrious, innovative and generous” person.
President Akufo-Addo in a post seen by Africa Publicity on his official Facebook page after paying a condolence visit to the family of Apostle Safo at his residence in Taifa, Accra, recounted his early days with the late man of God.
Mr. Akufo-Addo recalled that his first direct contact with Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was a professional one.
According to him, he became Apostle Safo’s lawyer after, in his customary manner, a thorough search for effective legal representation for his Church and himself was made by him, adding that “Over time, my relationship with him transcended the boundaries of legal representation and became personal.”
He described Apostle Safo as “Industrious, innovative, generous. Such were the ever-present markers of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka that we have all come to know and appreciate. The support of his Kristo Asafo Mission for me personally, and for the New Patriotic Party, remains invaluable and cannot be forgotten.”
The former President said “Even in his period of infirmity, he remained a cherished associate and friend. At this moment of his sad passing, I recall, in Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a gracious, humorous, elegant, handsome leader, who, like Da Vinci’s scientific association with the Catholic Church, stove manfully to bridge the gap between the modern church and scientific and technological innovation, within the complexities of his hallowed office.”

He said “I convey my condolences to his daughter, the former Minister for Gender and Social Protection, former Deputy Majority leader and former Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, all his other children, and his entire family, and may he find rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again.”
Mr. Akufo-Addo was accompanied by the Minority Leader and MP for Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the former Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and some former appointees of his government to condole with the family of Apostle Kwadwo Safo at his residence in Taifa, Accra.
