Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The record-breaking achievement, which captured widespread attention, was confirmed on September 12, 2025, during an event at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The record was announced on the official Guinness World Records X account, confirming a new benchmark of 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz). This monumental feat was a collaborative effort, with the Gino brand and a number of prominent figures, including Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, and Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of the Ogun State Governor, assisting in the preparation.
This latest achievement follows Hilda’s previous success in 2023, when she earned a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. The new record further solidifies her position as a culinary icon, showcasing not only her skill but also the collective spirit that made the event a major success.
