A Kenyan police officer has been arrested for shooting two boda boda (motorbike) riders dead during a roadside argument which followed an accident.
The killings happened on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, in Makongeni, Thika, Kiambu County, according to multiple local media reports.
Reports say the boda boda riders were killed by the police officer when they attempted to confront him after he was involved in an accident moments earlier.

According to reports, the policeman attempted to drive away but eventually stopped after getting caught in minor traffic, allowing other boda boda operators to catch up with him.
From the ensuing confrontation, reports say, other boda boda operators joined in, demanding justice for their colleague.
Moments later, the police officer allegedly brandished his firearm and shot at the operators, killing them.
“The rider was hit from the back by a car. The other riders came and confronted the driver, and that is when he brandished a gun. He shot the other riders not involved in the accident,” according to an witness account.
In retaliation, angry boda boda operators torched the police officer’s car beyond recognition.
The torched car was later towed to Makongeni Police Station, while the officer was disarmed and booked at Thika Police Station.
