The ECOWAS Commission, through its Directorate of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, in close collaboration with the Government of Guinea-Bissau, has officially launched Phase II of the Regional Programme for the Provision of Assistive Devices to Children with Disabilities.
Anchored in the 4×4 Strategic Objectives and aligned with ECOWAS Vision 2050, the initiative marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and people-centred regional integration.
The launch featured a high-level meeting with Maria Inácia Có Mendes Sanhá, Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Women, Family and Social Solidarity, who reaffirmed the government’s strong political commitment to disability inclusion. The ECOWAS delegation, in turn, emphasized the regional organisation’s ongoing dedication to social justice and systemic reform, ensuring that no child is left behind.
The programme’s rollout was preceded by technical consultations and field visits to strengthen local relevance, community ownership, and long-term sustainability.
