3 African Presidents To Attend Liberia’s 178th Independence Day Celebrations

Three African Presidents and a host of several regional and international guests are expected to attend Liberia’s 178th Independence Day celebration.

 

Expected to attend the celebration in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, are Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal.

 

According to the Executive Mansion in a press release, also among the guests expected are Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Former President of the ECOWAS Commission and AU High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, Former Executive Secretary of ECOWAS and Former Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, Former President of the ECOWAS Commission and Governor of the Central Bank of West African States, and Lansana Kouyate, Former Prime Minister of Guinea and Former Executive Secretary of the ECOWAS Commission.

 

The release said Liberia’s President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., “will welcome several distinguished regional and international guests to Monrovia as part of the festivities marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Day.”

 

It added that “Confirmed guests include sitting Heads of State, former regional leaders, and high-level dignitaries who are expected to join Liberians in commemorating the country’s historic milestone and reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, development, and regional cooperation.”

 

 

President Boakai extends warm welcome to all honored guests and views their presence as a powerful testament to Liberia’s enduring diplomatic ties and shared aspirations within the sub-region and the continent.

 

The 178th Independence Day celebrations will feature a series of national programs, including the official Independence Day ceremony, cultural exhibitions, and bilateral engagements between Liberia and visiting delegations.
