2 Brothers Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Ecobank of $4 Million

Two Zimbabwean brothers who together with other suspects allegedly robbed Ecobank Zimbabwe and made away with $4 million have been arrested in South Africa.

 

The alleged robbery incident occurred on October 3, 2024.

 

In a statement released on its official X account, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says the two brothers namely Abraham Temayi Vumbunu and Elijah Temayi Vumbunu were arrested on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

The ZRP says the two brothers were arrested in connection with the Ecobank $4 robbery.

 

Spokesperson of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, says in the statement that due processes of the law were being taken into effect for the extradition of the two brothers to Zimbabwe.

 

According to the statement, ZRP is still pursuing other suspects who are linked to the robbery.
