Russia has cautioned America against getting involved militarily in the ongoing Israel-Iran war.
According to Russia, the United States must try as much as possible to stay out of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.
Local media reports say the
Kremlin called for restraint and condemned any plans for a military response by the US that could further inflame the situation.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova described potential U.S. involvement as “an extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable negative consequences.”
The warning comes as reports say US President, Donald Trump has approved Pentagon plan for attack on Iran but has not given his final order.
President Trump, reports say, is delaying in giving the order to at least allow room for negotiation on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Zakharova also expressed Russia’s deep concern for the safety of its personnel and infrastructure at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant—constructed with Russian assistance and currently undergoing expansion. More than 200 Russian workers are involved in building two additional reactors at the southern Iran facility.
As tensions mount, Russia’s nuclear agency Rosatom has already evacuated several dozen workers from the site. Its chief, Alexei Likhachev, cautioned that an Israeli strike on Bushehr could trigger a nuclear disaster comparable to the 1986 Chernobyl incident.
Zakharova further noted that Iran continues to honor its commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and is open to resuming dialogue with the U.S.—but only if Israel halts its offensive actions.
