Musa Yende Releases Debut Gospel EP ‘Sustained by Grace’

South African gospel artist Musa Yende has released her debut EP, Sustained by Grace, a seven-track project marking a significant milestone in her career as a vocalist, worship leader, and storyteller. Born in Spruitview, East Rand, Yende’s musical journey began in church, followed by formal jazz studies after high school, shaping her fluid and controlled vocal style. Before Musa Yende’s solo breakthrough, she provided backing vocals for gospel icons like Dr Tumi and Benjamin Dube and worked on international projects.

Sustained by Grace, crafted with producer Joseph Makola, blends technical brilliance with emotional depth, reflecting Yende’s faith and personal testimony. The EP’s cover art, featuring her signature blue hair, underscores her bold individuality. The opening track, Angesabi Lutho, delivers a confident proclamation of faith, while the lead single, uMelusi, released earlier in 2024, celebrates God’s guidance as “The Shepherd.” The uMelusi Prayer, a spoken-word interlude, deepens this message. A standout collaboration, Amandla Amasha, features Brenden Praise, highlighting their nurtured musical synergy and God’s renewing strength.

Yende, inspired by artists like Jazmine Sullivan, India Arie, Donnie McClurkin, and Le’Andria Johnson, began creating the EP in mid-2024 to offer hope and restoration. She describes the title as a reflection of enduring hardships through divine grace, stating, “It’s about surviving seasons we didn’t feel ready for, overcoming things we didn’t think we could, and still standing—not because we had it all together, but because His grace kept showing up.” Her mission is to draw listeners closer to God, saying, “If one soul is encouraged, restored, or drawn closer to Jesus, the mission is fulfilled.”

Beyond music, Yende plans to launch a clothing range and hair business in 2025, aiming to spread God’s message across Africa. With Sustained by Grace, she establishes herself as a rising force in gospel music, poised for broader impact.
