Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, Doyin David, has firmly stated that she will no longer participate in any Nigerian reality TV show, citing the toll it took on her mental health and how it misrepresented her personality.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Doyin described her BBNaija experience as mentally draining and emotionally overwhelming. She expressed regret over how reality shows shape public perception, often painting an inaccurate image of contestants.
“When you go on a reality TV show, they portray you how they want to portray you,” she said. “There’s a lot that people think about me and think I am, in terms of my personality, that is really not who I am at all.”
Doyin added that Nigeria’s judgmental culture only made things worse, saying the public was quick to form harsh opinions without understanding the full context.
“I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money. Except it’s a reality TV show outside the country, then I’ll probably take it. But Nigerians are too judgmental, so no, I’m not blessing them with my presence ever again,” she concluded.
While she has ruled out returning to Nigerian platforms, Doyin hinted that she might consider an international reality show if the environment and treatment of participants differ.
