Akuapem Chiefs Honor Outgoing MP Dan Botwe as Nkosuohene for 16 Years of Sterling Leadership

In a grand ceremony during the annual Odwira durbar of the Akuapem Nifa Division at Adukrom, the chiefs and people of the Akuapem Traditional Area bestowed the title of Nkosuohene (Development Chief) upon Daniel Kwaku Botwe, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere in the Eastern Region. The honor recognizes his hard work, integrity, and unwavering service to the Akuapem people throughout his political career.

 

Mr. Botwe, who is retiring from Parliament after 16 years of dedicated leadership, was celebrated for the development he has spearheaded in Okere and the integrity he demonstrated as a public servant. The Akuapem Nifahene, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio, speaking on behalf of Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo, the Okuapehene, praised Mr. Botwe for his selfless service, stating, “The whole of Akuapem is impressed with your hard work and selfless service to Ghana.”

 

As the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development, Mr. Botwe played a pivotal role in the creation of six new regions in Ghana during the NPP’s first term, further solidifying his legacy.

 

In his acceptance speech, a visibly moved Mr. Botwe expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Akuapem for their recognition and pledged to continue supporting the development of Okere and Akuapem. “I remain your MP for the next 10 days,” he said, adding that he would work closely with the incoming MP, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth.

 

The ceremony, attended by high-profile dignitaries including Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo, Otubuor Djan Kwasi, and former MP B.D.K. Adu, marked a historic moment in the political and cultural life of the Akuapem Traditional Area, cementing Mr. Botwe’s legacy as a servant leader.
