The Smart Alert Team of Regent University College of Science and Technology has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Hult Prize Regional Competition scheduled to take place from June 7-8, 2024.

The Hult Prize is an annual international competition that challenges university students to solve pressing social issues through innovative business ideas.

The Regent team will be presenting a smart alert system that switches appliances on and off using SMS messages, along with a smart fire detector.

The team comprises Andrews Owusu-Sekyere (Bachelor of Engineering student, Level 400), Christabel Quarcoo (BSc. Management with Computing student, Level 400), and Aseda Kofi Ayeh-Bampoe (Bachelor of Engineering student, Level 100). From thousands of entries, fewer than 400 teams are invited to compete at one of the Hult Prize Global Summits. Teams will have access to top-level resources and invaluable networking opportunities with leading experts in their fields.

The winning teams from these summits earn a spot at the Global Accelerator and are one step closer to winning the grand prize of US $1,000,000.

In 2024, the Hult Prize Foundation is partnering with a select group of prestigious educational institutions to host seven summits worldwide. These summits will be held at SDA Bocconi Asia Center in Mumbai, India; Strathmore University Business School in Nairobi, Kenya; Hult International Business School in Boston, United States; Tecnologico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico; Hult International Business School in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on June 21-22, 2024; ISEG Lisbon School of Economics & Management in Lisbon, Portugal; and Chulalongkorn Business School in Bangkok, Thailand.
