Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh
The National Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana, has approved the choice of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for the party’s Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December 7, 2024 presidential elections.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, current Minister of Energy of Ghana, was approved by the Council on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
The former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, was presented to President Nana Akufo-Addo, and the Majority Caucus in Parliament prior to his approval by the Council.
His selection by Dr. Bawumia came after a tough bidding by some party officials for the role of running mate.
