In a surprising moment during a public appearance in New York City, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, offered rare praise for a major foreign policy initiative associated with former President Donald Trump, calling his proposed Gaza peace framework “the only game in town.”
“I’m going to say something positive about Trump — so hold on,” Clinton told the audience, drawing attention before acknowledging what she described as the significance of his 20-point proposal for ending the conflict involving the Gaza Strip.
Clinton argued that, despite deep political divisions surrounding Trump, the plan could represent a workable foundation if implemented in full. She said it offered a potential pathway toward improved security for Israel, reconstruction efforts in Gaza, and some form of Palestinian self-determination.
“There are a lot of people who reject it because Trump did it, but it’s the only game in town. There’s nothing else,” she said, emphasizing what she characterized as a lack of viable alternative proposals.
The remarks stood out given the long-standing political rivalry between Clinton and Trump, who have traded criticism for years across multiple election cycles. Public acknowledgment of Trump’s foreign policy proposals by Clinton has been uncommon, particularly on issues as sensitive as the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
Her comments are likely to fuel renewed debate over the feasibility of the plan and whether political polarization has limited consensus-building on long-term solutions for the region.
