President John Dramani Mahama emphasized the significance of the National Economic Dialogue, stating that it’s “more than just a symbolic exercise or the fulfilment of a campaign promise“.

Speaking at the opening session of the Dialogue, he stressed that this gathering is a crucial step towards resetting Ghana’s economy, restoring confidence, and building a prosperous future.

“This gathering is more than just a symbolic exercise or the fulfilment of a campaign promise… It is a decisive step in our collective responsibility to reset Ghana’s economy, restore confidence, and build the prosperous future we all envision,” President Mahama said.

The National Economic Dialogue, themed “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,” brings together key stakeholders from the private sector, academia, public policy institutions, and civil society organizations to discuss pressing economic challenges and forge actionable solutions.

President Mahama highlighted the importance of collective effort, saying, “Today, we are here to begin the process of engaging in honest, solution-driven discussions about the challenges we face and the opportunities before us”.

The President also stressed that the nation stands at a pivotal moment, and the choices made now will determine the trajectory of the economy for generations to come. He emphasized the need for a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy, saying, “This theme reflects our shared commitment to creating an economy that is resilient, inclusive, and built on sustainable growth” ¹.

The National Economic Dialogue is expected to yield concrete proposals to aid the government in executing the Reset Agenda, with a focus on *six key areas*:

– *Advancing Infrastructure Development*
– *Implementing Structural Reforms*
– *Ensuring Private Sector-Led Growth*
