In a shocking revelation, President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that a staggering $400 million was spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project without a single facility being fully operational. This bombshell was dropped during his maiden State of the Nation Address in his second term before Parliament on Tuesday.

Agenda 111, an ambitious healthcare initiative aimed at constructing 111 hospitals nationwide, was launched to bridge Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure gap. However, despite significant financial commitments, none of the hospitals have been completed and made operational.

President Mahama emphasized, “It is worth disclosing that USD400m has already been disbursed under agenda 111 project,” highlighting the alarming fact that not a single hospital under this massive initiative is serving the people of Ghana.

Furthermore, President Mahama suggested that the amount already spent could have facilitated the completion and operationalization of at least 22 of the proposed hospitals if resources had been utilized efficiently. This raises serious questions about the management and oversight of the project.

The Agenda 111 project’s failure is a stark reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in government projects. As President Mahama’s administration moves forward, it’s essential that they prioritize efficient resource allocation and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
