Ghana’s Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has joined family members, religious and traditional leaders, friends and well-wishers to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of former Northern Regional Minister and acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru.
The Vice President attended the memorial event on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, conveying the President’s warm greetings and continued sympathies to the bereaved family.
Addressing mourners, Professor Opoku-Agyemang reflected on the tragic circumstances that claimed the life of Alhaji Limuna and left the nation in shock and grief. She joined loved ones and community leaders in remembering his life of public service, dedication and the values he upheld throughout his career.
She also expressed solidarity with the family, reaffirming the collective responsibility of Ghanaians to support them during their period of loss and to continue keeping them in their prayers.
Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru died on August 6, 2025, at the age of 57 in a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region. Before his death, he was serving as the acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
During his political career, he served as Upper East Regional Minister, Minister of State at the Presidency and later as Northern Regional Minister, positions through which he contributed significantly to national development and public administration.
The memorial gathering brought together relatives, community leaders and dignitaries who paid tribute to his legacy and service to the nation.
The Vice President prayed for strength and comfort for the family and asked that the late statesman be granted eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
