Over 100 wooden structures purportedly serving as brothels for prostitutes have been destroyed by fire in Ghana.

The fire outbreak occurred at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, a busy business district of Ghana’s capital city, Accra, on Wednesday evening, June 5, 2024.

It remains unknown the cause of the inferno. But videos shared on social media in Ghana on Wednesday night showed sweeping many makeshift properties mainly owned by squatters.

The fire outbreak occurred just two days after Ghana commemorated its worst fire-floor incident in history, the June 3, 2015 twin fire-floor disaster that killed over 150 people.

The June 3rd incident occurred also at Circle when a gas station, GOIL caught fire during a heavy downpour of rain, killing scores of people who were trapped in traffic because of flooding resulting from the rain.
