It’s official – Emily Cooper’s adventures will continue in Italy.
Streaming giant Netflix has announced that the romantic comedy-drama, “Emily in Paris” , has been renewed for another season.
The news comes after the popular streaming show clocked 19.9 million views in just four days, following the debut of part 2 of season 4, on Thursday, September 12.
The series also retained a spot on the Netflix Global Top 10 Most Watched Shows, in 93 countries for four-consecutive weeks.
The release of the fourth season of “Emily in Paris” was split into two parts. Part one premiered on August 15 and part two on September 12.
In part 2, Emily meets a new love interest – the mysterious but warm Marcello, played by Italian actor, Eugenio Franceschini. He invites Emily to his home country and takes her on a Vespa tour through Rome.
During an online interview, Collins said: “There is breaking news! For the first time, I get to talk about the fact that there will be a season five. Yay!”
She continued: “(In season 4) we got to explore Rome and I’m really hoping for season five now, that we get to explore more of Italy. We had the best time. The whole cast felt a little bit like Emily did in season one, running around the city wide-eyed and just everything was so exciting.”
The show’s creator, Darren Star, shared online that the team was thrilled with the incredible response.
“We’re excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris! Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
The star also shared that Emily’s relationship with Marcello will be explored in season 5.
“I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
