Two illegal immigrants from Venezuela have allegedly kidnapped and strangled a 12-year-old girl to death in a creek in Houston, United States of America.
Local media reports say the suspects – who have since been arrested by police – reportedly killed Jocelyn Nungaray near her house.
According to US law enforcement officers, the suspects identified as Johan Jose Martinez, aged 22, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, aged 26, “both illegally entered the U.S. without inspection, parole or admission by a U.S. immigration officer.”
Reports say Franklin, 26, was fitted with a GPS ankle monitor by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent after he crossed at El Paso in Texas on May 28 but had cut it off by the time the pair were arrested for killing Jocelyn Nungaray.
Johan, 21, was also released after being intercepted by border agents on March 14, according to reports.
But they were once again arrested on Thursday, June 20, 2024 after police reportedly found the body of the 12-year-old girl.
According to the Houston Police Department, little Nungaray’s body was discovered in a shallow creek around 6:15 a.m. on Monday.
“It was a horrible scene,” Houston’s Acting Chief of Police Larry Satterwhite, noted during a news conference Thursday afternoon.
