Popular Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats musician, Gregory Bortey Newman, known in showbiz as King Promise, says he will be surprise if he doesn’t win the coveted Artiste of The Year award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based radio station, JoyFM, King Promise expressed profound confidence about winning the Artiste of The Year.
In the interview monitored by Africa Publicity, King Promise – the ‘Terminator’ hitmaker – shared insights about his music journey, achievements, explaining why he deserves to win the Artiste of The Year in 2024.
Giving reasons why he deserves the prestigious award this year, King Promise spoke about the success of his recent album, several hit songs and his great performances at concerts both in Ghana and on the international scene.
The ‘Baby I’m Jealous’ hitmaker said: “This year has been monumental for me. From dropping an album that topped charts to collaborating with international stars, and performing on some of the biggest stages around the world, I have poured my heart and soul into my music.”
He has received nominations in a number of categories at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards. The categories include Artiste of The Year, Afrobeats Artiste of The Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year for his ‘Terminator’ remix, Best Afropop Song of The Year and ‘Perfect Combi’.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards, organized by events management firm, CharterHouse is an ultimate night of music, fashion and forgettable performances, celebrating excellence in Ghanaian music. This year’s Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center.
