A court in Spain has jailed Sevilla’s striker, Rafa Mir, eight-and-a-half years for sexually assaulting two women and causing bodily harm.
The Valencian Community High Court of Justice announced the verdict on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Mir, was tried on May 28, 2026 and was found guilty of “one count of sexual assault and one count of bodily harm” by the provincial court of Valencia, the high court says on X.
In its ruling, the Spanish court highlighted the victim’s consistent and credible testimony, supported by witness accounts and forensic reports.
The victim was awarded compensation of €64,000 ($74,300).
The court noted that ruling is not final and that the conviction could still be appealed.
Mir currently plays for LaLiga club Elche. He is on loan from Sevilla. He was under contract at Valencia at the time of the incident in 2024.
