The founder of FMA Architects Ltd, one of Nigeria’s leading architectural firms, Femi Majekodunmi, has died aged 86.
The renowned architecture passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Femi spent his early years in the United Kingdom.
He later moved to Nigeria and attended St. Gregory’s College, Lagos.
Following his studies in Nigeria, Femi returned to the UK to pursue a degree in architecture. He first studied architecture at the Glasgow School of Art and later at Kingston University (then Kingston College of Art), graduating in 1966.
After completing his studies, he gained professional experience with architectural firms in both the US and UK before returning to Nigeria in 1969.
On his return to Nigeria, he became part of a generation of architects who contributed to the development of modern architectural practice in the country.
