The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, has announced plans to host the National Labour Conference and Social Dialogue 2026 from April 30 to May 1 at the Miatta Conference Hall in Freetown.

The two-day conference is expected to bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, development partners, employers, workers’ unions, representatives of the informal economy, digital innovators, and women entrepreneurs.

The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security says this year’s theme, “Challenges and Opportunities of Decent Work in the Digital Era,” reflects the growing importance of technology in shaping the future of employment and labour relations in Sierra Leone and beyond.

The event will feature high-level social dialogue sessions aimed at fostering constructive engagement between government, employers, and workers on critical labour issues affecting the country.

Participants will also engage in expert panel discussions designed to explore policy responses, share best practices, and identify strategies for promoting decent work in an increasingly digitalized economy.

A key highlight of the conference will be a Job Fair exhibition, which is expected to provide a platform for job seekers, employers, and innovators to connect, exchange ideas, and explore employment opportunities.

According to the Ministry, the conference forms part of activities marking International Workers’ Day 2026, and is aimed at strengthening collaboration among key labour stakeholders while advancing inclusive labour policies.

Officials further noted that the gathering will place particular emphasis on promoting women’s economic empowerment and expanding access to decent employment opportunities, especially within the evolving digital landscape.
