Ghanaian DJ and music executive Michael Mensah Ayenu, popularly known DJ Mensah, has urged government, corporate Ghana and the music industry to rally behind Sarkodie as the rapper prepares to scale up his Rapperholic UK concert following a historic performance in London.

The call comes after the inaugural Rapperholic UK show at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, where Sarkodie performed to a sold-out audience on March 6, 2026. The event marked a milestone for Ghanaian music on the global stage, with all 5,272 seats at the venue booked ahead of the concert.

Reacting to the experience in a reflective social media post, DJ Mensah described the atmosphere in the hall as unique and deeply symbolic for Ghanaian music and the diaspora.

“Low key, something interesting happened. RapperholicUK… energy in the room felt different. Louder, not in a noisy way, but bigger. You could feel the energy, excitement, pride, the hunger, the connection. For a moment it even felt like the diaspora had turned the volume up higher than Accra itself,” he wrote, adding that “It was a different experience entirely.”

The Rapperholic concert series, created by Sarkodie in 2012, began as an annual event in Ghana celebrating his music and collaborations with other artists, but has since grown into one of the country’s biggest hip-hop brands.

Following the successful UK debut, Sarkodie announced plans to host the next edition at The O2 Arena, one of the largest indoor venues in Europe with a capacity of about 20,000.

DJ Mensah believes the moment presents a major opportunity for Ghana to turn the concert into a global cultural event, saying “Now the big @theo2london. This our music World Cup in one night. Sark & friends on one big stage. Twenty thousand people in one room. Millions of eyeballs will be reached.”

He called on businesses and stakeholders to support the event by purchasing tickets and backing the initiative financially.

He says “I call on corporate entities, stakeholders, shareholders, and individuals to buy tickets for themselves and for their loved ones to witness Ghanaian music at its absolute highest level.”

DJ Mensah also suggested creating a cultural travel initiative around the event to attract fans from across the world.

He said “Just like we opened a portal for supporters to apply for visas for the World Cup, the same idea could apply here. A Rapperholic UK portal where your event ticket, hotel booking, and travel plans become part of the journey.”

According to him, the initiative could bring fans from Ghana, Europe and the United States to London for what he described as a celebration of Ghanaian culture on one of the world’s biggest stages.

“Fans flying in from Accra, across Europe, from the United States, and everywhere else …all landing in London for one purpose: to celebrate Ghanaian music on one of the biggest stages in the world.”

He further proposed that the concert be incorporated into national celebrations marking Ghana’s upcoming milestone anniversary.

“This vision must be backed financially by government and made part of the official Ghana @70 calendar across all the offices that matter … one of those moments that reminds the world how deeply music, culture and national pride can connect.”
