Nigerian Man Shoot Dead At Toronto Bus Terminal

A 46-year-old Nigerian man named Osemwengie Ororere, has allegedly been shot dead at a bus terminal in Toronto, Canada.

Reports say the shooting incident happened at the Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Toronto police accordingly traced the suspect inside the Yorkdale Mall immediately after the deadly shooting.

Police said the suspect named Tyrel Gibson, was arrested after being found with a gun.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Toronto Police indicated that officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 7 p.m.

According to the release, “It is alleged that: the victim and suspect both boarded a GO bus at the terminal the suspect shot the victim on the bus before fleeing the area on foot.”

It said “Officers arrived and located the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound life-saving measures were performed, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

It added that “The suspect was located and arrested by officers a short time later and a firearm was recovered.”

“The victim has been identified as Osemwengie Irorere, 46, of Nigeria.”

It noted that “Investigators had previously announced the arrest of Tyrel Gibson, 40, of Toronto. He has been charged with: First Degree Murder.”
