Law enforcement officers in Ghana have arrested 48 Nigerians for alleged cybercrimes including romance fraud.
Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA) announced the arrest in a statement dated December 24, 2025.
According to the statement, the Cyber Security Authority, in collaboration with National Security and the Ghana Police Service, arrested the Nigerians in a coordinated intelligence-led operation at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region.
It says the operation, conducted in the early hours of Wednesday December 24, 2025, took place between 1:40 a.m. and 5.00 a.m across four locations within the Dawhenya enclave.
The statement noted that the suspects, 46 males and two females, are believed to be Nigerian nationals linked to a range of cyber-related criminal activities, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.
It added that items retrieved during the operation included 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one starlink internet device, and eight MTN turbonet routers.
