Nigerian global music sensation Ayra Starr has shared candid insights into her creative process and artistic philosophy during an appearance on Accra-based TV3’s Showbiz 360, ahead of her headline performance at the Tidal Rave Festival 2025.
Speaking on the show on Friday night, the “Rush” hitmaker said she embraces inspiration from other artists without hesitation.
“I am very unashamed when it comes to sampling or picking references, because we are nothing without the people who inspire us,” Ayra Starr stated, adding that she does not subscribe to the notion that artists must always strive to be entirely original.
“I don’t believe in ‘we must all be every time authentic.’ It’s like the only authentic person in this life was Jesus and that’s it,” she remarked during the interview monitored by Africa Publicity.
Ayra Starr, who is currently in Ghana for the Tidal Rave Festival 2025, explained that certain themes come more naturally to her when she writes music.
“I find it difficult to write true love songs, but very easy to write heartbreak songs,” she revealed, offering fans a deeper look into the emotions that shape her sound.
On collaborations, she noted that personal connection to a track is essential before agreeing to work with another artist.
“I have to really like a song to accept a collaboration,” she emphasized.
The Tidal Rave Festival—one of Ghana’s biggest beach music festivals—is taking place today, Saturday, 15th November 2025, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. Ayra Starr is set to deliver a high-energy performance as part of the star-studded lineup.
