Incumbent President Paul Biya, aged 92, has won Cameroon’s presidential election and set to serve his eighth term of office amid reports deadly shootings in the country’s commercial capital of Douala.
Official results declared on Monday, October 27, 2025 showed that he won with 53.7%.
Main opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma Bakary – who had declared himself winner – secured 35.2% votes per the official results announced by Cameroon’s constitutional council.

Biya is currently the world’s oldest president. He has been in power since 1982.
Reports say there are deadly shootings near the home of Tchiroma in the city of Garoua.

On Sunday, four people were allegedly shot dead when opposition protesters clashed with Cameroon’s security forces in Douala.
