Gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey has opened up about his wife’s painful journey through multiple miscarriages while he continued leading the popular Hallelujah Challenge, a month-long virtual praise and worship session that attracts thousands of believers worldwide.
During the early hours of Friday’s session, Bassey revealed that his wife suffered five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
He recounted how he would often leave the hospital to lead worship online, then return to be by her side.
“My wife will have to forgive me. Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance,” he shared.
He added,
“A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave, lead praise and worship online, then return to the hospital, and the nurses attending to her would tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five.”
Bassey described the experience as a test of faith, yet one that strengthened his trust in God. Married since 2013, Nathaniel and his wife are now blessed with two children — a son and a daughter.
Using his story to inspire others, the gospel minister encouraged believers not to lose faith during trials, affirming that “God is faithful” even in moments of deep pain.
