Ghanaian Highlife musician Akwaboah Jnr has admitted that his marriage last year led to some of his female fans distancing themselves from him. However, he remains confident that his music will win them back.
Speaking in an interview with Adom TV, which was reported by Ghana Weekend on Thursday, October 9, Akwaboah — whose full name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr — revealed that several female fans reacted with shock and disappointment after his wedding.
“Some came into my DMs on Facebook and Instagram to express their disappointment and surprise that I’m married. The day I got married, OMG — the comments were something else!” he said with a laugh.
He added that such reactions are not unusual, comparing them to situations where church members lose interest when their pastor gets married.
“There’s a difference between talent and character. Your talent attracts people, but it’s your character that defines the relationship,” Akwaboah explained.
Despite the reactions, the award-winning singer remains optimistic. “Some fans have been very supportive, and I believe those who left will return because they genuinely love my music,” he said confidently.
