Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has shared a new video on the X platform showing Tesla’s Optimus robot learning kung fu.
The 45-second clip, filmed inside Tesla’s Fremont lab, shows the humanoid robot performing punches, kicks, and defensive moves in perfect sync with a human trainer. Posted directly from Musk’s account, the video has already attracted more than 12 million views.
Blending science fiction flair with cutting-edge robotics, the footage demonstrates Optimus—now in its second generation—accurately mirroring martial arts moves through AI neural networks that process live video feeds in real time. Unlike earlier prototypes, the robot requires no remote control, maintaining balance and reacting to movements with impressive precision.
“Optimus isn’t just walking; it’s dancing with danger,” Musk captioned the post, adding a winking emoji that sparked over 150,000 responses. The demo builds on Tesla’s growing ambitions in robotics, with plans to begin factory deployment by late 2025. Initial uses will include routine tasks such as sorting parts and moving tools, allowing human workers to focus on more creative work.
During a follow-up X Space session, Musk teased future consumer applications: “Imagine this in your garage by 2026—your personal sparring partner or warehouse wizard.”
Tesla aims to ramp up production to one million units annually starting next summer, priced between $20,000 and $30,000—less than the cost of a used Tesla Model S.
Tech analyst Cathie Wood hailed the demonstration as “a robotics revolution,” predicting Optimus could add up to $10 trillion to global GDP by 2030.
Musk ultimately envisions home versions of the robot performing everyday tasks—cooking meals, tutoring children, and assisting around the house—all while keeping prices within reach of average consumers.
