Young Nigerian Students Relying More On AI For Academic Success – Google Report

A new report by Google has revealed that young learners across Nigeria are turning to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for study and to boost their academic performance.

The report was released on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

According to the report, Google Search data shows that searches combining “AI + studying” have increased by over 200 percent compared to 2024.

The report adds that searches like “AI + chemistry” increased by 50 percent, while “AI + maths” and “AI + languagues” both increased by 30 percent.

It says searches combining AI with grammar increased by 20 percent.

Commenting on the report, the West Africa Director of Google, Olumide Balogun, says Nigerian students were not just looking for shortcuts but using AI to build a deeper understanding.

According to him, “Learners are turning to AI not simply for answers but to grasp complex subjects like chemistry and mathematics. Google’s mission is to ensure they have access to tools that help them learn, grow, and succeed.”
